promises an increase in the Young Rental Bonus and the authorization of 183,000 public homes

Pedro Sánchez, acting president of the Government and candidate for re-election, has committed to increasing the Young Rental Bonus and enabling up to 183,000 public housing units during his investiture speech

Currently, the Rental Bonus consists of an aid of 250 euros for young people under 35 years of age, however, now, after the extension it promises, would be to help earlier emancipation of young people, as explained by Sánchez. The acting president has taken the opportunity to urge the regional governments of PP and Vox to develop this measure more vigorously, since it is the regional governments that manage this aid.

The socialist candidate He has not specified what this bonus increase would consist of. and throughout his speech he also highlighted another of the measures included in the coalition agreement between PSOE and Sumar, such as the granting of a 20% state guarantee for the purchase of a first home. In addition to this, Sánchez has also committed to supporting “middle-class Spaniards” to renovate their homes in accordance with environmental criteria through a series of tax incentives, about which he has not given more details.

And it is that, In Sánchez’s opinion, access to housing is for many citizens “the biggest problem” they face. “The rise in rents, the rise in mortgage prices as a result of the tightening of the monetary policy of the European Central Bank and the difficulty of saving have made it more difficult every day to develop a vital project for many citizens in our country,” has emphasized.

It is for these reasons that the acting president has committed to implementing the announced measures with the focus on “helping tenants”, but also “small property owners”.
